Meet Our Directors

Teddy Parker

Theodora “Teddy” Parker

Director (Board election - April 2021)

With a father who served in the U.S. Army, and a mother who served with the American Red Cross in the Philippines under General MacArthur during WWII, Teddy understands and honors the importance of selfless service. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Berea College, and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Kentucky, where she used her skills and knowledge as a social worker and court advocate for children in the State welfare system. Relocating
to Los Angeles in 1977, Teddy worked as assistant to award-winning writer/director Joseph Wambaugh, and was part of the team of talent agents who helped launch the early career of “Breaking Bad” star, Bryan Cranston. In 1983, Teddy entered the world of television commercial production, winning numerous awards for ‘hit’ infomercials and short-form commercials.

In 2009, she moved to Albuquerque and worked for national research firm NORC before joining Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a Recovery Support Assistant where she helps homeless and very low-income clients — many of whom are Veterans — find resources and treatment options for those suffering from substance abuse and other mental health challenges. As a member of the VIC Board, she brings vast experience in social work and mental health to help support the complex work that is critical to helping change the lives of our Veterans in New Mexico.
